Client Social Enhancement

Volunteers spend time in a client’s home or day program to provide enhanced 1:1 support for non-clinical services (strictly recreational and not to replace required staffing. Some Ideas for volunteer interactions with residents include:

  • Playing games
  • Listening to music/watching a movie
  • Completing  a craft/cooking project
  • Reading  to a resident

Other ideas are welcome! Requirements: Full background check, references and orientation class required

 

Client Entertainment

Volunteers introduce residents or day program participants to a special interest or talent of theirs including but not limited to:

  • Artists
  • Chefs
  • Magicians
  • Musicians
  • Storytellers

Discuss your talents with us to find a good fit with a specific or group of clients.

Requirements: No prior training or background checks required if for a specific event. More regularly scheduled, on-going events will require full background checks, references and orientation class.

 

Facility Rehab

Groups and individual volunteers visit group homes for indoor and outdoor maintenance and upkeep. Some ideas for Volunteers include:

  • Spring and fall yard clean-ups
  • Interior/exterior painting/staining
  • Interior/exterior light carpentry

Other ideas are welcome! 

Requirements:  No prior training or background checks required if for a specific one-time “day of Caring type group event”. More regularly scheduled, on-going facility rehab by individuals will require full background checks, references and orientation class.

 

Special Events Volunteers

Volunteers can provide targeted/specific support at Port Resources events and activities including:  

  • Stars-by-the-Sea Auction
  • Friend-raisers
  • Client centered activities such as art night and Seasonal /holiday parties.

Requirements: No prior training or background checks required for non-client related activities

 

Professional In-Kind services support:

Volunteer Professionals provide their specific expertise to Port Resources including:

  • Professional contractors
  • Educators
  • Fitness trainers
  • Health professionals

Requirements: Business associate agreement, confidentiality agreement, proof of insurance

Board member or committee member:

Interest to serve on the Port Resources Board of Directors as a full member and/or committee member at monthly meetings:

Requirements to become a member:  Board Member Application, background check, meetings with the Executive Director and Board chair
