Shared Living- Medication Administration Course Recertification - (SL-MAC Recertification)
Prerequisites and Requirements
Port Resources is currently offering the Shared Living Medication Administration Course (SL-MAC).
New (first time) providers must take their initital course in person**. During Covid 19, Port Resources is offering this option via Zoom only. Beginning January 1, 2021, cost is $130. Payment must be received in full to reserve your spot in the class; please contact our Training Registrar by emailing TrainingRegistration@portresources.org for more information.
Providers wishing to recertify (required every two years) may do so via the mail. As of January 1, 2021, payment is required to begin this course; the fee is $70. The instructor will call you, ask some questions, and mail you a packet with instructions to be returned in the provided stamped envelope. Your certificate will be mailed back to you. **There are some exceptions to the first-time live class requirement; providers that have previous medical training such as CNA, CRMA, RN, EMT, etc may qualify to do the course via mail instead of through Zoom. Please contact us to see if you qualify.
Course Description
The Shared Living Medication Administration course recertification is for people who have been previously certified to administer medications in Shared Living or Family-Centered Home Support settings funded under MaineCare section 21. This course is for the primary home provider as well as any others who administer medication only to the people living in the home. Anyone who is paid to administer medications in other settings is not eligible to take this course.
Recertification can only be obtained through an OADS Developmental Services approved nurse instructor. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be recertified to administer medications to people who live in Shared Living or Family-Centered Home Support.
