Port Resources opened its first home in 1980 and currently operates over 20 homes in Cumberland and York Counties. The homes support a full spectrum of needs (cognitive, medical, physical and psychological) for individuals from childhood through their senior years if needed. Like all of us, the people we serve have their own goals and unique interests; whether it is studying to get a high school diploma, volunteering or working in the community, or developing new skills within their homes, they are empowered through Port Resources to become as independent as possible in a stable home environment. |

When Maine decided to close its large state-run institution, the Pineland Center in New Gloucester, a new way of life for individuals with developmental disabilities became possible. Port Resources’ successful model of community residences that provide greater choices and life-enriching experiences, with the assistance of direct support professionals, has enabled the individuals we support to thrive and grow in ways completely unexpected years ago…and has validated Maine's decision to close Pineland as the right one. |
